That first day
when I looked into her eyes I ultimately fell in love and knew that my life
would never be the same. I always hoped
that she would give me the chance to make her happy the rest of her life. Deciding to ask her to marry me would be the
easiest decision I have ever made.
So I decided to
save some money a little at a time so I can buy her the most beautiful
engagement ring. A ring that was as
beautiful as her. A ring that would
sparkle the way her eyes did and shine as bright as she does. When I finally had enough money to buy that
ring, I decided to go to the jewelry store to pick one out a that would be
forever on her finger. After spending a
few hours looking through many diamonds and settings, I finally had one that I
was hoping she would love.
Before I met her
I had very little to look forward to, living life day by day but when she
finally came into my life all I can see is the future.
On a clear summer
night in San Francisco, my plan to begin the rest of my life came to be, on
Valentines Day. I recently bought a
telescope because I have always been mesmerized by the night sky. Now it was time to make one of those
celestial objects my own, the moon.
We drove to a
place we both knew really well. I had
taken her before to Twin Peaks where we picked our song, With You All The
Way. I set up my telescope as she sat
looking up the sky excited to see the stars and planets up close. When I finally had it all up and working, I
patted my jacket pocket to double check that the ring box was still in
there. She noticed this and wondered
what I was doing so I told her that I was making sure that my wallet was still
in my pocket.
She had been
asking me about the stars and told her some common, easy to find
constellations. Now it was time to give
her a little pop quiz. As she looked
through the eyepiece I asked her to find the brightest star in the sky,
Sirius. She found it very quickly. Next I asked her to find Polaris, the north
star. Surprisingly, she found it again
really fast. Next on the list was the
constellation Orion, and that too she found.
So I said, "Moon, since you've been finding all these objects, I'm
going to ask you to find something a little less well known. Show me the constellation future."
She wondered,
"Future, I never heard of that?"
So I told her to look through the telescope and look for it. I gave her a hint that it was a nebula shaped
like a ring with a bright star on top of it.
She kept searching and searching and even asked me what the spelling of
future was and still could not find it. She
finally let out a big sigh and said that she couldn't find it. She took her eye off the eyepiece and I
quietly sneaked the box to the end of the telescope and placed it there on the
rim of the scope. I asked her to give it
another shot and she reluctantly agreed.
As she looked
through the telescope again she said, "I can't see clearly, there's
something wrong with your telescope."
I looked puzzled and told her to check the lens to see if there was some
dust on it. As she walked around, she
saw the box and looked puzzled. Then
just as quickly her expression changed.
So I took the box from her hand, got down on my knee and said, "I
told you the future is not hard to find, your future is right here with
me. Moon, you have made me the happiest
man in the world and if I would be so blessed as to spend the rest of my life
making you as happy as you make me.
Moon, will you marry me?"
She let out a
resounding Yes! Yes I will marry you and I got up from my kneeling
position. Gave her a kiss and hugged her
really tightly. I wiped the tears from
her eyes but I couldn't wipe the big smile from her face. When I finally calmed down a bit from all the
excitement, I shouted on top of Twin Peaks for the whole word to hear,
"We're getting married!"
